Yards and TimBar Join to Support Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House

TimBar Packaging & Display has been an active member of the Craft Brewer’s Association since 2009. When it was announced BrewExpo would take place in Philadelphia in 2016, TimBar knew its booth had to be extra special. TimBar’s design team challenged itself to create a life size replica of the Liberty Bell to be the focal point of TimBar’s booth at the event. They not only met the challenge, they exceeded it. The corrugated Liberty Bell was done tremendously and wasn’t only a focal point of TimBar’s booth, it became the talk of the show with hundreds of people stopping each day to snap photos and chat about it.

So once the tradeshow is over, what is one to do with 3,126 square feet of corrugated board weighting 123.5 pounds that took 181 manhours to turn into an exquisite replica of a piece of Americana? You give it to your friends who happen to have an outstanding brewery in Philadelphia featuring beer recreations based on the original recipes of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Ben Franklin. But the Love (Stout) doesn’t stop there! Both Yard’s and TimBar believe in supporting and giving back to their local communities so the price for the corrugated Liberty Bell was a donation to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House supports families of seriously ill children with programs that include two Ronald McDonald Houses, two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a Hospitality Kiosk at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and a Ronald McDonald Camp. On June 13, 2016, representatives from Yard’s Brewery and TimBar Packaging & Display met to present a donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia in front of the corrugated Liberty Bell now housed at Yard’s Brewery in Philadelphia. So if you’d like to see the corrugated Liberty Bell for yourself and enjoy some great beer, please visit Yard’s Tasting Room and take the Brewery Tour. TimBar’s vendor partner, BHS, recently recognized outstanding performance by the operators of the BHS 98” corrugator located at TimBar Packaging & Display’s Oxford Division in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. On Tuesday, June 8 representatives from BHS and TimBar’s executive management team were present at the facility to present the BHS Platinum Performer award to the crews on all three shifts. The crews broke a record by running the machine for full work week with 98% uptime and an average speed of 801 feet per minute.

Pat Ciambruschini, BHS Vice President, Sales & Marketing commented, “The Platinum Performer award is given in recognition of outstanding production results when compared with similar machines worldwide. Many facilities have great shifts or great days, but to achieve these results over an entire week, on a 14 year old corrugator, is a world class achievement”. He added, “These results would not be possible without the complete dedication of the operators, plant leadership and the BHS M2P maintenance personnel. Congratulations to everyone involved, you should be extremely proud of your accomplishments”.

Bill Thom, TimBar Senior Vice President, Operations stated, “It’s just equipment; you make it go. It’s obvious you work together as safely and efficiently as possible and ensure you keep to the preventative maintenance schedule.” He added, “The performance is even more impressive when you understand the order sizes being run for conversion. You’ve done an outstanding job and we greatly appreciate it as well as the recognition from BHS.”

TimBar Packaging & Display was founded in 1955 and is headquartered in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The company specializes in the design and manufacturing of corrugated sheets, shipping containers, protective inserts, retail packaging and point of purchase displays. Learn more by visiting www.timbar.com
